Engage for Good

Engage for Good at the BestCities Global Forum

At this year's Global Forum we collectively will be raising funds for OzHarvest. You will earn points by engaging prior, during and after the event and the more points we accumulate as a group the more funds will go towards OzHarvest. We will also be recognising the most engaged participant during Global Forum, so let's all engage for good!

OzHarvest

Food waste and food insecurity are major challenges and through Engage for Good we will be supporting OzHarvest at this year's forum.

OzHarvest is Australia’s leading food rescue organisation on a mission to ‘Nourish our Country’ by stopping good food from going to waste and delivering it to charities that help feed people in need. OzHarvest’s yellow vans are out and about in communities every day, collecting quality surplus food from a network of donors, including supermarkets, cafes, delis, restaurants, corporate kitchens, airlines, hotels, and other food businesses. We deliver this food directly to over 1,900 charities that help feed people in need across the nation, free of charge.

Through their education programs and advocacy work, OzHarvest hopes to create positive change and inspire others to help reach the national target of halving food waste by 2030.

Of course, every meal delivered also means that good food is diverted from landfill. Food going into landfill is a huge contributor to dangerous greenhouse gas emissions, with10% of all emissions impacting climate change coming from food waste.

They believe that education is crucial if we want to enable positive change. Their education goal is to strengthen community connections, improve life skills, increase healthy eating and food waste awareness.

How will it work?

We have setup goals and points linked to these goals in our event management system. Once you complete a goal, these points will be tallied by the system to your point total. Through the attendee app you will be able to see how many points you have collected, what goals there are, which goals you have achieved and you will be able to see a top 10 leaderboard.

The height of the donation to the OzHarvest would be determined by the accumulated points by our group:

0 - 50,000 points = Donation of $500

50,001 - 150,000 points = Donation of $1,000

Over 150,001 points = Donation of $2,500
